I wanted to do a project on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.;but that would be to simple. I remember that he learned his peaceful tactics like marching and sit-ins and other non-violent activities from Gandhi. And I realized I did not know a lot about him at all like. All I knew is that he fought for India's Independence. So I decided I wanted to learn more about him. Gandhi is important because without him India wouldn't have gotten their independence.
I found most of my research on the computer but I'm better at finding books in a library. So I got a book from my school library called Gandhi His Life, His Struggles, His Words written by Elisabeth de Lambilly and Illustrated by Severine Center. This book helped me a lot during my research and put valid questions in my head. Like what major events helped him achieve independence for India and what was Gandhi like as a little kid. The most helpful sources I have is the book of course and History.com. And my teacher even though she did not help me with research she helped me understand the project. At first it seemed overwhelming. It still is overwhelming but I understand what to do now.
When I first used Weebly.com. I did not know how to do anything. So for a day I played around to see what makes this website tick. I was so happy to learn but than I came across the problem of how to edit the backgrounds. It turns out was so easy just click it and it gives you option. Then I had to learn how to add a picture, my teacher helped. It was so simple that it was embarrassing. Turns out I did not try everything. Finding sources was quite easy, surprisingly.
My topic fits with this years theme "Taking A Stand" because Gandhi is taking a stand for Indian's Independence. He raised his voice and fought when others done nothing, he was the one who did something. Without him Indian's would still be untreated fairly under British rule. But more importantly without Gandhi Indian's would still be under British rule! Who knows how long it would take for India to get its independence without Gandhi. It could be years before someone is brave enough to fight for whats right or maybe nobody would fight at all. Without Gandhi to influence Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who would be his great influence. He is a preacher so I know he read the Holy Bible. Would his sit-in or marches be violent or non-violent. The world would never know because Mahatma Gandhi was born in the world and made it a better place.
